The three Moro cookbooks have become modern-day classics. Now owners Sam and Sam Clark look set to repeat the trick with Morito (Ebury Press; £26) – published this month. The Post has had a sneak peek and can confirm the book is a beauty. As well as easy-to-follow recipes for popular dishes from the tapas bar like Lamb chops Mechoui and Beetroot Borani, there are loads of striking photographs of Exmouth Market and Clerkenwell. Look out for a recipe from Morito in our next issue.
Bonnie Gull has received rave reviews since opening in Fitzrovia. So we’re chuffed that its second location is on Exmouth Market – in the former Bincho Yakitori site. Bonnie Gull Seafood Shack has a more casual atmosphere than the W1 restaurant: a “1960s British seaside café feel,” according to MD and co-founder Alex Hunter. Lobster, crab and fish finger rolls will all be available to eat in or take away, while eat-in mains include newspaper-baked Cornish mackerel and diver scallops with Yorkshire chorizo. Relive blustery days on the seafront by finishing with a house-made ‘Whippy’ ice cream or bag of candy floss for dessert.
Wandering down Amwell Street, with its cluster of independent shops and designers, is one of the area’s simplest pleasures. Charlotte’s Fine Foods is a recent addition to the line-up, having opened at no. 37 earlier this year. Now owner Charlotte Bowers is taking the store online as well, with the launch of her website planned for mid-May. In the Amwell Street store you’ll find treats like bread and pastries from Flour Power City Bakery in Bermondsey, charcuterie from London-based Cannon and Cannon, and teas from Tea Studio, based in Tottenham.
