Bright Ideas Clerkenwell Design Week
The area was awash once again with vibrant talent and communal creativity for this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week. This colourful collage reveals just some of the highlights.
Second year around – The entrance to the popular and relatively new Additions venue, which showcases home accessories, at St James’s church
Cutting-edge car – Renault, the headline sponsor, brought along its latest concept car, the DeZir
Trying their hand – Visitors got the chance to create jewellery in a special workshop at The Goldsmiths’ Centre
Drawing inspiration – Artist Aidy Brooks graffitis a wall, as part of the fringe activities at local showrooms
Wall of colour – Thousands of tiles went into producing the “Verve” installation by Johnson Tiles
High-profile talks – Award-winning industrial designer Ross Lovegrove came to speak at the event alongside Renault’s VP of Exterior Design, Anthony Lo
Plenty of atmosphere – Up-and-coming designers lit up the House of Detention with their wares
Twizy transfers – A fleet of electric Renault Twizy cars provided a free shuttle service
Showroom events – Morgan Furniture held a gonzo drawing workshop, as well as the launch of the Kyoto linear bench collection
New, fifth venue – The Old Sessions House on the Green became Icon magazine’s House of Culture
A great outdoors – The Priory Church of The Order of St John hosted the Detail venue, and its garden, a champagne bar
100% Design – CDW returns on 24-26 May, 2016. But you don’t have wait until then for an essential design destination. 100% Design takes place on 23-26 September at Olympia London. This year’s theme is ‘Design in Colour’. You’ll be immersed in varying shades during colourful displays from brands and at the interactive installations.
