Cockpit Arts is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Based in Cockpit Yard, the craft business incubator works to support independent makers. Their birthday open studios event takes place in June, when 200 designer-makers past and present will be showing and selling work at the central and south London sites.
There will also be an exhibition of Cockpit Arts alumni and current makers by photographer Alun Callender. Recent successes include Rita Parniczky (pictured), who won the Perrier-Jouët Arts Salon Prize for her textile installations.
As well as the free open studios on 2-5 June, Cockpit Arts will host a London Craft Week talk on the Art of Commissioning on 5 May at 6pm.
