GAUCHO

Smithfield Market has been providing London restaurants with meat for 140 years. To say thank you, Gaucho has created a new Smithfield Burger Menu inspired by its meat market neighbour. Available at the Charterhouse Street branch, which overlooks the historic market, the menu includes a burger made with four cuts of beef and topped with bacon, caramelised onions and provolone cheese. There’s also lamb topped with crispy Coppa ham and basil aioli, a confit pork belly burger and a fried chicken number topped with addictive chimichurri sauce.

BERBER AND Q

Berber and Q has chosen EC1 as the location for its second outpost. The duo behind the Hackney grill house, Josh Katz and Mattia Bianchi, have transformed 46 Exmouth Market (formerly Blackfoot) into a shawarma bar that will banish bad memories of late-night kebabs and replace them with something delicious. Try the lamb shawarma or Middle Eastern-style rotisserie chicken, served with herb salad, green chilli, grated tomato, tahini and sumac onions. Sides include blackened aubergine or coal-baked sweet potato.
