Clerkenwell is stuffed to the gills with top culinary talent, so we thought we'd ask them to share some of their favourite recipes. Here, leading chef Mark Hix, of Hix Oyster & Chop House, shows you how to make his irresistable oyster and chorizo pies, the perfect alternative to a traditional autumn Sunday roast.

It's 1pm, bang in the middle of the lunchtime service, but Morgan Meunier doesn't mind taking time out to talk. Not only that, his wife had a baby yesterday and he's already back at work. This guy is clearly committed.

 

What do hummus, risotto and meatballs have in common? They each have a London restaurant devoted to them.

 

"This is the most exciting place to be in for coffee at the moment. I have no desire to be anywhere else," says Tim Williams, the Aussie in charge at St Ali.

 

Soho, Mayfair, Lyme Regis, Selfridges and, of course, Smithfield. Chef Mark Hix has a finger in a lot of pies — a fitting analogy, perhaps, for the man who’s known for his innovative take on the traditional Cornish Stargazy Pie, which he served up four years ago on BBC2’s The Great British Menu.
