Funny Finsbury

The Finsbury Health Centre, designed by Berthold Lubetkin, has inspired a book that’s in the running for the prize for the funniest novel of the year.

The Lubetkin Legacy was shortlisted for the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse prize. Author Marina Lewycka has described how, while staying in Clerkenwell, she visited the building – she compares it to “a stranded spaceship that has landed in someone’s front garden”.

Meanwhile, if you want to learn more about true crime in Clerkenwell, there are two books about last year’s infamous EC1 raid: Sexy Beasts: The Inside Story of the Hatton Garden Heist and The Great Diamond Heist.
