In the pink
Clare Burnett’s PINK is a new exhibition (until 28 November) at the William Benington Gallery, which is based in Arlington Way and specialises in sculpture.
Recently elected president of the Royal British Society of Sculptors, Burnett is known for her use of colour in work that plays with our sense of perspective and scale. This time Burnett has tried a new process that’s less formal and more playful: she aims to challenge the ingrained associations with the colour pink that we learn from childhood. Found and adapted items have been arranged alongside crafted objects in this exhibition, which Burnett wants us to experience as “freedom and fun” – but not kitsch.
