The West End doesn’t have the monopoly on big stars – David Tennant is heading to the Barbican this Christmas.

The Dr Who and Broadchurch actor is starring in Shakespeare’s Richard II. The play will be directed by Gregory Doran, artistic director of the RSC and will transfer to the Barbican following a run in Stratford-upon-Avon. Richard II will be on over the Christmas period, from 9 December 2013 to 25 January 2014. Beats the heck out of panto.

Tickets are on sale now at www.barbican.org.uk
