Before his famous California phase, David Hockney had a spell in New York.

The Contemporary Art Society on Central Street is showing some of his early work from
this period. The Rake's Progress, named for Hogarth's1735 series, is a collection of 16 etchings detailing the arrival and downfall of a young man in Manhattan. Hockney created the series between 1961-63 and you can see the complete set from now until 16 August.
