Clerkenwell has a long history of craft, so it's appropriate that a local publisher should be celebrating that artisan legacy in print.

Made by Hand is an illustrated survey of tailors, shoemakers, stationers, watchmakers, instrument makers and many more types of maker. The book features contemporary British and international artisans in their workshops, and explores the techniques and the traditions that inform their work. Made by Hand is a visual tribute to the hand-made and the homegrown ā€“ and there's also room to mention the celebrity clients for the more rarefied pieces produced by these artisans.

"Made by Hand" (Black Dog Publishing) is out now.
