Clerkenwell-based Dame Zaha Hadid triumphed in the Design of the Year award at the Design Museum, whose Shad Thames building she will take over next year when the museum moves to Kensington.

She became the first woman to win the top prize when judges chose the Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku, Azerbaijan. The exhibition runs until 25 August.

Clerkenwell creatives should also check out the Designers in Residence exhibition focusing on new talent (from 10 September) and Louis Kahn: The Power of Architecture (until 12 October). And the Design Museum 25 series of anniversary events (staged in association with The Post's publisher Media 10) continues on 27 August with Swiss architect Jacques Herzog.
