The Free Word Centre recently celebrated its fifth birthday, so it's time to pay a visit if you've not yet explored its events, classes and exhibitions – it also has a café where you can read in peace.

Describing itself as a centre of literature, literacy and free expression, the Free Word Centre is located in Farringdon, an area with a rich history of politics and literature, including the famous 19th century booksellers. The autumn programme includes a travel-writing workshop on 2 October.
