Seven years after the closure of the famous Turnmills club, a new 70,000 sq ft office, retail and restaurant development has been completed on the site.

The textured fa├žade of the six-storey Turnmill building, designed by Piercy and Company, was made with 85,000 handmade Danish bricks designed to mirror the tones of the nearby Old Sessions House. The Turnmills club occupied the basement of the former stables, which were constructed for the Great Northern Railway Company in 1886. Conservationists campaigned to keep the historic structure, but developers Derwent London said it would not be workable. The office space will be let to communications giant Publicis Groupe.
