Each year CDW marks the arrival of new showrooms. Danish firm Carl Hansen & Søn’s three-storey site in Bowling Green Lane will introduce products including Hans J Wegner’s Wishbone chair, Heritage chair and Shell chair (pictured). CDW will also see the launch of German office furniture manufacturer Assmann’s newly designed showroom in Turnmill Street, and the Berry Street showroom of carpet tile manufacturer Milliken. Swiss furniture company USM opened in Central Street in March. www.carlhansen.com

moro

Head to the Moroso showroom on Rosebery Avenue at 6.30pm on 19 May for a discussion with architect David Adjaye and the head of Italian furniture brand Patrizia Moroso. The pair collaborated on Adjaye’s design for the Double Zero chair. Moroso will also take part in ELLE Decoration’s #BeOriginal campaign session with Nipa Doshi during Conversations at Clerkenwell (12pm, 20 May). Meanwhile, Swiss furniture manufacturer Vitra’s Clerkenwell Road showroom will feature a retrospective on the life and works of architect Jean Prouvé. www.moroso.it

Anniversaries are also on the agenda at CDW. Austrian office furniture company Bene, which has a St John Street showroom, celebrates an incredible 225 years in business. And it’s 50 years since Le Corbusier died, so Italian furniture brand Cassina is marking the anniversary at the Poltrona Frau showroom (also in St John Street) with its reissue of the original Sixties collection. With 30 years in business, lighting specialist Holloways of Ludlow is also celebrating – they’ll be exhibiting at Design Factory. www.cassina.com

100

Once CDW is over, it’s time to start thinking about 100% Design, the largest contemporary design event for industry professionals. As well as featuring more than 1,000 product launches, the 2014 edition marked the event’s 20th anniversary. This year it takes place on 23-26 September in a new venue – the Grand Hall at Olympia (register online for free entry).
