Clerkenwell’s showrooms are wide ranging – chairs, office furniture, lighting, tiles, loos.

And, if you’re an architect, you’ll be pleased to know that the range is expanding, with an increasing number of a more technical variety opening up in the area. In July, Italian adhesive specialist Mapei launched its first UK showroom on Great Sutton Street. And this September, Marshalls, the Yorkshire-based paving-materials company, is moving into Compton Courtyard on Compton Street. Its showroom has been designed to double up as a drop-in workspace for architects, with meeting rooms and areas for hot desking. It opens on 25 September.
