Clerkenwell was the centre of the clock- and watchmaking trade from the early 18th century.

Three hundred years on, the area has changed but a new English luxury watch brand has taken inspiration from that history of craftsmanship and named itself after Sekforde Street (with a subtle spelling change) where the team is based. Sekford aims to be a modern brand that draws on classic craftsmanship. While their timepieces may be Swiss-made, the Sekford logo is an English Gothic Revival engraving by specialist Mark Wilkinson. Sekford describes their watches as fashion items but with a strong focus on design, engineering and craft elements. The brand’s first wristwatch collection, Type 1A, is on sale from £695.
