Wolf Hall

Watch Wolf Hall, Humans, Spooks? Did you know they are alll made in Clerkenwell? With the Baftas coming up in February, we do a close-up on some of EC1’s top TV production companies.

From the Farmiloe Building used for The Dark Knight and Inception to Hercule Poirot’s TV home in Florin Court, off Charterhouse Square, and St Bartholomew the Great’s in-demand medieval setting, Clerkenwell has always been a frequent fixture on the screen. But it’s also home to a cluster of TV creatives who have come up with long-running shows such as Spooks, Foyle’s War and Misfits as well as recent hits River, Humans and Wolf Hall (main image).

It shouldn’t really be any surprise – Clerkenwell is known for its concentration of creative-sector businesses. And the neighbourhood is also benefiting from the convergence of television creativity and technology. Amazon, now a TV powerhouse in its own right, has its UK HQ in Holborn Viaduct. Tv production companies in EC1 include Company Pictures, Kudos, Clerkenwell Films, Eleventh Hour Films and The Forge.
