The Barbican has a fourth residential tower due for completion in 2017.
The modern Brutalist design of Blake Tower (named after poet William Blake, buried in Bunhill Fields) is a redevelopment of the former YMCA building by Harper Downie. Now more details have emerged about the 74 flats and studios built in the Grade II-listed shell of the original 17-storey building.
It was built in 1968 as a continuation of the Barbican, first designed by Chamberlin, Powell and Bon in the late 1950s. Conran and Partners’ interiors of Blake Tower will celebrate the Barbican Estate with a modern take on 1960s décor. Redrow London has opened a marketing suite and show apartment for viewings.
Prices start at £725,000.
