Here’s a unique perspective of the old Post Office Underground Railway underneath Mount Pleasant.

The image of the Mail Rail – still exactly as it was when it closed in 2003 – was part of a series created by ScanLAB Projects, a 3-D scanning and visualization company. The images create a permanent record of the Mail Rail, which started in 1927 and ran between Whitechapel and Paddington. The British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) plans to open up the Mail Rail – the world’s first driverless, electrified railway – to the public as part of the new Postal Museum in Farringdon in 2016.
