Tall Story

Do you love the Barbican or hate it?

EC1’s Brutalist estate, featuring three 1970s tower blocks, has been voted Londoners’ least favourite tall building. The poll by think tank New London Architecture (NLA) revealed that the Norman Foster-designed Gherkin (30 St Mary Axe) is the favourite, followed by The Shard and The Leadenhall Building (nicknamed the Cheese Grater). NLA also worked with consultancy GL Hearn on a study that found at least 236 tall buildings over 20 storeys are currently proposed, approved or under construction in the capital. London’s GrowingUp!, a free exhibition curated by NLA chairman and The Post’s columnist Peter Murray, is at The Building Centre, 26 Store Street until 12 June. www.londonfestivalofarchitecture.org
