Under the Skin
Forty years after punk shook up the capital, the challenging sound and style are being celebrated in the year- long Punk.London festival.
Of course, tattoos are a sub-culture that’s part of the punk story, and the Museum of London is doing its bit for the festival with the free exhibition Tattoo London, which runs until 8 May. In fact, this kind of body art has a long history in London going back to the 18th century.
The museum will also feature a display of clothes, fanzines and punk ephemera later in the summer. For classic images of The Clash, Buzzcocks and The Sex Pistols by photographer Jill Furmanovsky, Barbican Library is hosting Rockarchive’s A Chunk of Punk exhibition until 28 April.
